Our workshops are successful because the students have the chance to create what ever music they are interested in, from pop to jazz, to drum and bass, almost any genre is possible in our music production course. We turn up with everything needed to make music, from the laptops right down to the CD to burn the tracks onto. The lessons are taught using a projector screen and the class goes though each step together as a group sharing ideas, with our team on hand to answer any questions. We operate with a very hands-on approach and the majority of the class time is spent actually making music, with the youth workers available to answer questions, rather than focusing on the academic learning. These classes are meant as a taster of music production for the young people, encouraging them to be as creative and expressive as possible in the classes with a large emphasis on team work and collaboration. At the end of each session each student will get the chance to play what they have made to the rest of the class. On-Track Workshops will include: •How to compose a piece of music Young people will learn together how to compose their very own piece of music. This will include how to create a drum loop, bass line and melody and how to add effects, samples and vocals to the track. They will also learn how to arrange the recording into a finished piece of music. •Teamwork and collaboration A large amount of the learning will be done as a group so that they can inspire each other and share ideas. The group is also encouraged to collaborate by creating a track together; bouncing ideas off one another and building confidence. •Burning your finished track on to CD to take home At the end of the sessions everyone will have a finished piece of music that they can play to their friends and family. This will instill a sense of pride and achievement as they take home a piece of music that they have created! |
